ROCHELLE — A blood drive is being held today from noon to 5 p.m. at Rochelle Community Hospital, 900 N. Second St. The Rock River Valley Blood Center is collecting donations to help maintain the local blood supply for hospitals across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. The center needs more than 800 units of blood each week to meet regional medical needs.
Maggie Anderson, donor recruiter with the Rock River Valley Blood Center, said donations are important because blood cannot be manufactured.
“Donated blood is needed by patients every day. Anyone who is eligible to donate is encouraged to stop by and help support the local blood supply.”
The blood center has four permanent donor locations and also operates mobile blood drives throughout its service area.
