POLO — The Polo City Council has approved an ordinance updating solid waste and recycling service rates, effective September 1, 2025, under its contract with Midwest Disposal. The changes include revised monthly charges detailed in an updated fee schedule, with special provisions for businesses, churches, and vacant properties. Residential Midwest Disposal rates are set to increase slightly in 2026, with most monthly services rising between 2% and 14%. On average, residential customers will see a price increase of approximately 3.5% across standard services like toters and small dumpsters. In a separate action, the council also passed a new ordinance allowing the city to add a 35% fee to unpaid fines or penalties when collection services are used. Both ordinances were adopted during the council’s August 4th meeting and took effect immediately.
