Oregon Announces America 250th Anniversary Flag Day Events

OREGON — The City of Oregon has announced a three day community celebration for the nation’s 250th anniversary from June 12th through June 14th. Events will include live music, student presentations, band performances, food vendors, a flag raising ceremony, and family activities at several locations throughout the city. The Oregon City Council previously established a 250th Commemoration Committee to help organize the local events.

Friday, June 12
100 Block of Franklin Street
5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

• Welcome speech by Mayor Ken Williams
• Oregon High School band performance
• Appearance by Paul Revere
• Student essay presentations
• Kids bike parade
• Tug of war featuring Oregon Police, Fire, and Public Works
• Oregon Big Chair photo opportunity
• Food and sweets vendors

Saturday, June 13
Depot Museum, 400 Collins Street
10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

• Welcome speech
• OHS essay readers
• OHS band performance
• Live music performances
• Silverview rail car tours
• Food vendors
• Rotary raffle sales

Sunday, June 14
Oregon Coliseum and CMAAA, 124 N. Fourth Street
Noon to 3 p.m.

• Flag raising ceremony by VFW
• Welcome remarks
• OHS band performance
• Patriotic decoration winners announced
• Self guided 250 Flags Walking Tour
