LELAND — A 45-year-old Leland man has been charged with arson after a fire destroyed his home Thursday evening. The Leland Police Department says Gregory D. Wormley was arrested Friday and charged with arson, a Class 2 felony. Fire crews from Leland, Somonauk, and Earlville responded to the blaze at Wormley’s South Main Street residence around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. No injuries were reported, but the home was declared a total loss. Following an investigation, Wormley was located with help from Mendota Police and taken into custody at a hotel in Mendota. He is being held at the LaSalle County Jail ahead of a pretrial hearing and faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
