ILLINOIS – Illinois farmers continued making progress in the fields last week, with 92% of the corn crop mature and 36% harvested as of Oct. 4, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Corn maturity is slightly ahead of the five year average, while harvest is also ahead of the average pace. Soybeans were 87% dropping leaves, with 31% harvested, slightly ahead of the five year average. Illinois corn was rated 58% good or excellent, while soybeans were rated 58% good or excellent.
