ROCHELLE – Rochelle firefighters responded to the 900 block of North Ninth Street around 12:17 p.m. Tuesday after a contractor noticed an electrical problem while doing unrelated work at the home. Rochelle Fire Department Lt. Tyler Carls said firefighters found electrical wires arcing and smoking on the side of the house, causing smoke. Multiple agencies responded, including Rochelle, Ogle-Lee, Flagg Center, and Hillcrest Fire Protection District, Nicor Gas and Rochelle Municipal Utilities. The home sustained minor damage, and no injuries were reported. One person was inside the home. Officials advise residents to visually inspect electrical equipment and wiring and contact Rochelle Municipal Utilities or a licensed electrician if they notice a problem.
