Rochelle junior running back and safety, Dylan Manning, remains in stable condition following a serious head injury Friday night in the Hubs game with Morris.
Manning had collapsed along the Rochelle sidelines late in the game. He was taken from the field by ambulance to Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers and then flown to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Dylan’s father, Ben Manning, said that doctors removed a clot and some bleeding from the brain during the surgery.
Following the procedure, Dylan was responding to poking and prodding. He can move his toes and squeeze someone’s hand. He also gave the thumbs up to his dad and doctors.
Manning’s cat scan is also better on Saturday than on Friday. He has been responding to touch and voices.
Dylan is still sedated. They plan on Sunday to stop his meds and pull his breathing tube.
A community prayer vigil was held Saturday night at the football stadium for Dylan.
Following his stay in the hospital, he is scheduled for a rehabilitation facility.
Dylan has rushed for 829 yards and 11 touchdowns this season for Rochelle, both tops on the team.
He also lead the Hubs with 41 tackles.
