ROCKFORD — Demolition is underway of the Civil War-era Briggs Mansion in Rockford. The building is being torn down after UW Health Swedish American Hospital bought the property in February. Community members attempted to save the historic building. UW Health’s CEO and president Travis Andersen says the demolition is necessary for their long-term plans for growth, which will allow them to better serve patients and the community for generations to come.
