DeKalb Township Opens Fall Application for Free Trees

DEKALB — DeKalb Township is accepting applications through Aug. 30 for its 250 Trees for Tomorrow program, which provides free trees to residents, businesses, nonprofits and local taxing bodies. The township has planted or awarded 167 trees since the program began this spring and expects to reach its goal of 250 trees by the end of 2026. Fall tree pickup is expected from Sept. 22 through Oct. 16. Applications can be emailed to services@dekalbtownship.org, dropped off at the township office or mailed. The township will also hold a community tree planting event Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Glidden Homestead. For more information, call 815-758-8282.
