DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved a resolution Monday night awarding a contract for the Chicago West Business Center transmission water main project to Elliott and Wood in the amount of $5,074,999.99 with a city contingency of $253,750, bringing the total project cost to $5,328,750. City staff said the project will install a new 16 inch transmission water main to loop recently annexed development areas tied to the Endeavour and Edged project and connect existing dead end mains along Illinois Route 23, East Gurler Road, and Keslinger Road to improve water flow and reliability for existing and future users. Officials said the project follows recommendations in the 2025 to 2035 Master Water System Plan. City officials said the project is not eligible for state low interest loan funding because it supports both existing service areas and future growth. Funding will come from the Water Fund reserve.
