Constellation Energy Awards $15,000 Grant to HOPE of Ogle County

ROCHELLE — Constellation Energy presented a $15,000 grant to HOPE of Ogle County on Oct. 29 to support its Safe Steps program, which provides emergency assistance to survivors of domestic violence. The grant, funded by Constellation via The Rochelle Area Community Foundation, will help cover expenses for people leaving unsafe situations, including transportation, clothing, personal care items, medicine and other basic needs.

HOPE of Ogle County Executive Director Rebecca Laudati said the funding will also help survivors obtain identification, secure work supplies and pay for medical, dental and vision needs not covered by insurance.

She said, “So when they leave here, they have everything they need in their proverbial toolbox, so to speak.” Laudati said the program also helps families provide holiday gifts for their children and makes the transition to a safe living situation easier.

The check presentation was followed by a tour of the HOPE of Ogle County facility.
