BYRON – Sewer lining work resumed in Byron this week and is expected to be completed by the end of the week. Public Works Director Aaron Vincer said the work has been going smoothly and is the first sewer lining project completed in the city. The process places a new pipe inside the existing sewer line without requiring major excavation. Crews have completed long sections of sewer, including a stretch from All Saints Drive to Third Street. City officials said the project is expected to provide a new pipe with less disruption than traditional excavation. The city is also considering extending the lining into private sewer service connections in future projects to help prevent root intrusion at the connection points. Video inspections of the sewer lines will be kept by the city for future reference.
