The Chicago Bulls have found their next head coach.
The team has reached a deal to hire Portland Trail Blazers interim coach Tiago Splitter as the team’s new head coach. The 41-year-old will take over for Billy Donovan, who Chicago mutually parted ways with following the regular season.
Splitter guided the Trail Blazers to a 42-and-40 record and playoff berth as the seventh-seed in the Western Conference after stepping in for Chauncey Billups.
He was the first Portland head coach to have a winning record in his first season with the team since Maurice Cheeks in the 2001-02 season and first to win a playoff game in his debut season since Mike Dunleavy in 1997-98.
Splitter was also an assistant coach with Brooklyn and Houston and played in the NBA for 7 seasons.
