Raoul Urges Travelers to Watch for Summer Scams

CHICAGO — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is encouraging residents to be alert for travel scams as the summer vacation season begins. Raoul urged travelers to research booking sites, travel agencies and vacation rentals before making reservations, and to be cautious of deals that seem too good to be true, vague vacation packages and requests for payment through wire transfers, gift cards or cryptocurrency. He also reminded consumers to review cancellation policies and know their rights regarding airline refunds for certain delays and cancellations. Residents who believe they have been targeted by a scam are encouraged to file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office.
