ROCHELLE – The Rochelle City Council announced on Tuesday night that City Engineer Sam Tesreau will be the interim city manager. Tesreau will be replacing the outgoing Jeff Fiegenschuh, who will be leaving in January to take on the role of City Manager of the City of Washington, Illinois. The council also chose to select Arnt Municipal Support Inc. out of Charleston, Illinois to lead the search for the next Rochelle City Manager.
Tesreau brings extensive municipal experience to the interim role, having served the City of Rochelle in a leadership capacity as City Engineer, where he has overseen major infrastructure projects, capital planning, and engineering operations critical to the community’s long-term success.
“Sam has demonstrated strong technical expertise, professionalism, and a deep understanding of Rochelle’s operations,” said Mayor John Bearrows. “The City Council is confident in his ability to provide steady leadership and maintain continuity of services during this transition.”
As Interim City Manager, Tesreau will oversee the day-to-day operations of the City, support the professional staff, and work closely with the City Council to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality municipal services. The appointment is intended to provide stability while the City Council considers next steps regarding permanent leadership.
