SYCAMORE — The DeKalb County Community Foundation awarded $130,900 in Farny R. Wurlitzer Foundation Fund grants to support music education in DeKalb County and the Chicago area. The grants helped 25 organizations, with local recipients including the DeKalb County History Center, DeKalb School District, Hiawatha High School, and Indian Creek schools. Funding went to buy instruments, improve performance spaces, and support student music programs. The grants show strong local support for music education and continue the Wurlitzer Company’s legacy of making pianos in DeKalb. Applications for the next round of grants open January 1.
