ROCHELLE – The Rochelle Elementary District 231 Board of Education reviewed state assessment results Tuesday showing all four schools in the district received commendable ratings under the Every Student Succeeds Act.
“These are nice not to have anybody in that targeted or lower category,” said Assistant Superintendent Tony Doyle
The ratings are based on Illinois Academic Readiness scores in grades three through eight and measure student growth and proficiency. The district highlighted the use of designation data to identify student groups needing additional support and guide school improvement plans. Updates on the Stepping Stones preschool program and Lincoln School literacy efforts were presented, including small group reading instruction, phonics development, and outreach to students eligible for transitional kindergarten programs.
Lincoln Elementary Principal Amy Hayden said they really want to make literacy a priority, “We are really committed to getting as many of our kids to that ability to read by the end of first grade.”
