ROCHELLE – Matt Hoffman was sworn in Monday night as Rochelle’s new finance director during the City Council meeting. Hoffman, who previously served as assistant finance director for the Village of Lake in the Hills, oversaw accounting, audits, and budget development. He will manage the city’s budgeting, auditing, and long-term financial planning, joining officials in focusing on fiscal responsibility and transparency.
“The transition so far has gone very well,” he said. “It’s a good group of people, both in the city as a whole and also in the finance department in particular.”
Hoffman began his role November 3 and will work with city leaders on budget development and year-end audit preparation. He said he is looking forward to the work that lays ahead of him.
“I think the challenges are just learning the little quirks of each city. Every municipality’s different and all the personalities are a little different. But Chris left Rochelle in good shape. The finances are very well put together. The department runs very, very smoothly.”
