Public Voting Open for Northwest Illinois Housing Design Competition

ROCK FALLS — Blackhawk Hills Regional Council has opened public voting for its Northwest Illinois Housing Design Competition. Eleven submissions were received for sites across Carroll, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, and Whiteside counties, featuring designs promoting multigenerational living, universal design and accessibility, and affordable housing. Residents 18 and older can vote at housing.blackhawkhills.com through November 28 to help select the public prize winner, which carries a $5,000 award. A panel of expert judges will also award additional prizes. The competition received partial funding from AARP’s Community Challenge, part of its nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which supports efforts to make communities better places to live for people of all ages.
