KINGS – The Illinois Department of Transportation has started a Phase I study of the intersection at Illinois 64 and Illinois 251 in Ogle County to evaluate options for improving safety and traffic flow. The intersection, now a four-way stop, was reduced from four lanes to two on Illinois 251 following a 2025 restriping project. IDOT’s proposed plan includes converting the intersection into a modern single-lane roundabout with lighting, splitter islands, and a 12-foot truck apron to accommodate larger vehicles. All phases of the project, from engineering to construction, are funded. A virtual public meeting will be held November 18 from 5 to 6 p.m. for public input.
