RTHS Plans Major Track Replacement

ROCHELLE – Rochelle Township High School is planning to replace its track as part of future facility improvements. District officials said the current track surface has been replaced twice in the past 20 years and is now in need of a more extensive replacement. The district plans to conduct soil testing before removing the existing track and rebuilding it from the base layer up. Officials have reviewed options from three companies and are working through costs with the facility and finance committees. A recommendation is expected to come before the school board in October. The project is expected to take about 10 to 12 weeks, and the district has adjusted next year’s home football schedule to provide additional time for the work and allow the new track to set properly.
