(Toronto, Ontario) — The Blue Jays have struck first in the World Series.
Toronto erupted for nine runs in the sixth inning on its way to an 11-4 rout of the defending champion Dodgers in Game One of the Fall Classic.
Addison Barger belted a grand slam in the big inning, while Daulton Varsho and Alejandro Kirk clubbed two-run homers for the Jays, who take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven set.
Shohei Ohtani smacked his sixth home run of the postseason for the Dodgers. Blake Snell was tagged for five runs in as many innings to take the loss. Game Two is Saturday in Toronto.
