Public Invited to Comment on Belvidere Bypass Project Thursday

BELVIDERE – The Illinois Department of Transportation will host a public open house Thursday to gather input on proposed improvements to U.S. Business 20 from State Street and Appleton Road to U.S. 20 and Genoa Road. The event runs from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Boone County Administrative Building, 1212 Logan Ave., Belvidere, where residents can review displays, speak with project representatives, and provide feedback. IDOT is conducting a Phase I engineering and environmental study for the expansion of the Belvidere bypass from two to four lanes, resurfacing the existing road, building a new eastbound bridge over the Kishwaukee River, and adding a multi-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists.
