Raoul Joins Lawsuit Over End Of Federal Solar Program

CHICAGO – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul joined a multistate lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency and Administrator Lee Zeldin, alleging they unlawfully ended a $7 billion program that funded solar projects in low-income communities. The Solar for All program, created by Congress in 2022, included $156 million for Illinois to help thousands of households lower energy costs through renewable power. Raoul said the EPA’s cancellation violated federal law and the Constitution by rescinding already-awarded grants. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, with attorneys general from 21 other states and additional state entities joining Illinois in the challenge.
