SPRINGFIELD — Illinois corn and soybean crops continued to develop near or ahead of average levels, according to the latest USDA Crop Progress report. Corn silking reached 86%, with 30% in the dough stage, while soybeans were 81% bloomed and 50% setting pods. The corn crop was rated 59% good to excellent, and soybeans were rated 57% good to excellent. Farmers reported 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork during the week.
