YMCA Opens Showers for Dixon Residents During Gas Service Restoration

DIXON — The City of Dixon said work continues with Nicor Gas to restore service at Chateau Estates following Monday’s explosion and gas emergency. Nicor has divided the neighborhood into seven zones for testing and restoration, with testing completed in the first three zones. Residents in those areas will be contacted as crews begin relighting gas service. City officials said many residents have been without hot water and the ability to use gas appliances while service remains shut off. To assist those affected, the City of Dixon, Nicor Gas and the Dixon Family YMCA have arranged for Chateau Estates residents to use shower facilities at the YMCA. Residents must present a valid ID, and YMCA policy prohibits registered sex offenders from entering the facility.
