VFW Auxiliary Proposes Continuing Public Garden Plot Program In Rochelle

ROCHELLE — The VFW Auxiliary of Rochelle has submitted a letter of intent to the city expressing interest in continuing the public garden plot program previously operated by the Rochelle Garden Club. The proposal asks the City of Rochelle to allow use of land on 8th Avenue for community garden plots. The auxiliary said it would manage plot setup, sales, and cleanup after the growing season. Proceeds would support veteran outreach programs and scholarships for Rochelle High School students. The group said it plans to coordinate with the city, city council, park district, and former garden club members as part of the effort to continue the program.
