SYCAMORE — Traffic signals along Illinois Route 64 between Sacramento and Main streets in downtown Sycamore will switch to flashing red on Tuesday, as crews replace signal controllers. City officials said Helm Electric will complete the work as part of a two phase project, with no operational changes expected after the initial equipment swap. A second phase planned for late spring or early summer will include new signal timing, vehicle detection devices and pavement widening at Route 64 and Main Street. The city said schedules may change due to weather or equipment availability and urged motorists to use caution while traveling through the area.
