JOSLIN – The State of Illinois is making funding available to help attract a new operator for the former Tyson Foods beef processing facility in Joslin. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity plans to use the Invest in Illinois Fund to support qualified proposals to acquire and reopen the facility. Tyson closed the plant as part of a restructuring of its beef operations, affecting nearly 2,500 workers. The state says the facility remains an important regional asset because of its infrastructure, workforce and access to transportation and agricultural supply chains.
