OREGON — A 48-year-old Rockford man has been sentenced to 58 years in state prison for a violent home invasion and robbery reported in Rochelle earlier this year. Prosecutors said Mark A. Cooper entered a home on February 21st with another adult and attacked two residents, beating a male victim and pointing a gun at him while a female victim was assaulted in another room. Both victims reported injuries, and Rochelle Police identified Cooper as the suspect after an investigation. A jury found him guilty on October 22nd of home invasion with a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm and armed habitual criminal, all Class X felonies with added prison time when a firearm is involved.
