Rochelle Council Approves Phase Two of Downtown Rebuild Project

ROCHELLE — Last week the Rochelle City Council approved an ordinance accepting a $3,127,095.12 bid from DPI Construction, Inc., for Phase Two of the Rebuild Downtown & Main Street Grant project. Phase Two includes reconstruction of Parking Lots 1–3, a new parking lot at Washington and 2nd Avenue, the stage and restrooms, the alley between 4th and 5th avenues, and a new storm sewer on 4th Avenue. The project is roughly 11 percent over the engineer’s estimate. There was a brief debate before the vote about removing the new parking lot to reduce costs to bring the project back to near the original estimate.
