ROCHELLE – On Monday night, the City Council approved ordinances allowing the Water Department to apply for Illinois Environmental Protection Agency Public Water Supply Revolving Fund loans to fund multiple water system projects. The funding will support lead service line replacements, the drilling and development of a new well with a well house, and construction of roughly 7,400 feet of water main. The city has contracted Willett Hoffman for engineering and design work. Project costs are estimated at $4.045 million for lead line replacements and $6.716 million for the new well and water main, with loan requests not to exceed $8 million and $12 million, respectively. RMU Superintendent of Water and Water Reclamation Adam Lanning said that these IEPA loans would be eligible for 100% debt forgiveness.
