Polo Warns Residents About Energy Scam Concerns

POLO — City officials in Polo are warning residents about marketers falsely claiming to represent the city or its electricity aggregation provider, MC Squared Energy Services. Officials said neither the city nor MC Squared uses door to door or telephone sales for the aggregation program unless residents request contact. The city said some marketers have been aggressively trying to switch residents to other electricity suppliers with higher rates. Residents are advised not to share ComEd account information, show utility bills, or provide personal details over the phone or at the door. Officials also encouraged residents to contact police if they believe they are being targeted by a scam. The City of Polo said residents can switch electric suppliers at any time without penalty under the aggregation program.
