MT. MORRIS – The Ogle County Coroner has identified the pilot killed in a plane crash on July 22 as 23-year-old Alexander Leamon of Lena, Illinois. At approximately 9:36 a.m. Tuesday, emergency responders arrived at the scene of the crash near 2810 W. Illinois Route 64, where they found a crop dusting aircraft engulfed in flames. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire, and the pilot, the sole occupant, was confirmed dead at the scene. The crash caused extensive damage to electrical infrastructure, knocking down seven utility poles and power lines. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the cause of the crash.
