One Dead; One in Custody After Shooting in Mt. Morris

MT MORRIS – One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in Mt. Morris on Monday night. The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office says they were called around 5 PM to an apartment complex on Ogle Avenue, where they say a domestic dispute led to an individual allegedly being shot multiple times. Authorities say that 25-year-old Camron Pasley was transported to a Dixon hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The suspected shooter, 44-year-old Derek Swanlund, was located a few blocks away after the incident and taken into custody. He was transported to the Ogle County Jail, where he is being charged with First Degree Murder. Further charges may be pending, and the investigation is ongoing by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office.
