Officer Involved Shooting Under Investigation in Bureau County; One Juvenile Dead

PRINCETON – The  Illinois State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred Sunday after the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office and Princeton Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance in the 2700 block of East Street. Authorities say they were told a subject was armed and holding several people hostage, including juveniles. Illinois State Police troopers assisted with perimeter security while officers entered the residence and shots were fired, leaving the subject and one juvenile struck by gunfire. State police said officers then entered the home to provide medical aid and transported the juvenile to a local hospital where the juvenile was pronounced dead, while the subject was also taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. The incident remains under investigation.
