MENDOTA — The Mendota Public Pool will not open this summer due to safety concerns and new damage to the facility, city officials announced at the most recent City Council meeting. Repairs completed last winter were estimated at just under $1 million with a 10-year warranty, but new cracks and piping issues make opening the pool this year impossible. The city has submitted engineering designs and state permits, a process expected to take more than eight months, and plans to reopen the pool in 2027. In the meantime, city staff are organizing summer activities and events for youth and families through the Live Well Mendota grant program and will hire 8 to 10 youth over age 16 to assist with programming and city projects. Updates on the pool project and summer activities are available on the city’s website.
