Judge Denies Convicted Starved Rock Killer’s Bid To Overturn Conviction

OTTAWA –  A judge is denying a request to overturn the conviction of the man found guilty of the Starved Rock killings.  Chester Weger spent more than 60 years in prison after he was convicted of killing one of three Chicago area women found slain at Starved Rock State Park in LaSalle County in 1960.  Weger was paroled for good behavior in 2020.  His attorneys sought to overturn his conviction with DNA evidence and new witness testimony.  However, a judge ruled that the witness’ testimony was based on hearsay that didn’t come from an actual eyewitness to the murders.
