SPRINGFIELD — Illinois turkey hunters harvested a record 18,189 wild turkeys during the 2025 spring season, surpassing the previous record of 17,208 set in 2024. The total includes 2,099 birds taken during the youth season, up from 2,010 last year. Permit sales also increased, with 89,687 sold compared to 86,083 in 2024. In northern Illinois, DeKalb County only took in 18 turkeys, Ogle County harvested 275, and Lee County had 113 birds bagged. Spring turkey hunting was held in 100 of the state’s 102 counties.
