The Giants avoided a home sweep by beat the Cubs 5-1 on Sunday. Matt Chapman led the San Francisco attack with a two-run home run, his seventh of the year. Logan Webb allowed an unearned run and struck out seven to earn the win on the mound. The Giants improved to 29-and-43 with the victory.
Pete Crow-Armstrong and Alex Bregman each collected a pair of hits in the Chicago setback. Colin Rea allowed four runs over four-and-two-thirds innings to get the loss. The Cubs had their three-game winning streak snapped, dropping them to 37-and-35 this season.
Chicago opens up a series at home Monday night against Colorado.
