Explosion Injures One and Forces Evacuation of Dixon Mobile Home Community

DIXON — One person was seriously injured after an explosion at a manufactured home in the 1500 block of Estates Road at Chateau Estates  in Dixon around 6 a.m. Monday, prompting the evacuation of the entire mobile home community due to elevated gas levels. The injured person was transported to OSF Saint Katharine Medical Center in Dixon. Emergency crews had to evacuate about 106 addresses housing an estimated 300 to 400 residents.  An emergency shelter was established at Reagan Middle School, with transportation available through Reagan Mass Transit District and Advance EMS for residents who need assistance. Officials have closed Anchor Road between Illinois Route 38 and Illinois Route 52 until further notice. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
