DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved a payment of up to $42,500 to the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center for academy training for five new police officers. City officials Tuesday night said the Police Department continues working toward its authorized staffing level of 75 officers and requires new hires to complete state certified basic training. The training center provides instruction, housing, and meals for recruits at a cost of up to $8,500 per officer. Funding for the training was already included in the city’s fiscal year 2026 police budget.
