DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council approved Ordinance 2025-053 Monday, authorizing Northern Illinois University’s annual contribution to the city’s integrated transit services. Under the intergovernmental agreement, which dates back to 2018 and was extended in 2024, NIU covers 33% of the costs for fixed-route and paratransit services. For the upcoming year, the university’s contribution totals $2,415,155 of the $7.4 million transit budget.
