DeKalb Approves Fire Station Windows and Police K9 Vehicle

DEKALB – The DeKalb City Council last week approved $29,504 to replace aging windows at Fire Station 3 and $57,104 to purchase a new Chevrolet Tahoe for K9 operations. The Fire Department’s 32-year-old casement windows at 950 W. Dresser Road will be replaced with double-hung units to improve ventilation and create space for future gear lockers, with work contracted to Terry Vonderheide Carpentry, Inc. The Police Department will acquire a 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe K9 package from Miles Chevrolet to replace an older K9 vehicle, using a $2,000 trade-in allowance and funding the purchase through the State Drug Forfeiture Fund. Both projects are funded without impacting the City’s General Fund.
