Cortland Provides Yard Waste Collection Rules and Schedule

CORTLAND — The Village of Cortland is reminding residents of Lakeshore Recycling Systems yard waste collection guidelines as the season runs from April 1 through November 30 each year, with pickup scheduled on Fridays and all materials required to be placed curbside by 6 a.m. for collection. Residents may use marked containers labeled yard waste or biodegradable paper bags, and containers must not exceed 35 gallons or 50 pounds and should have two handles if reused for collection. Brush must be tied in biodegradable twine and cannot exceed 4 feet in length, 4 inches in diameter, or 50 pounds in weight, and unbundled brush will not be collected. Tree limbs must also meet size limits and yard waste bags may not exceed 50 pounds. Officials noted there is no limit on the amount of yard waste placed out as long as it is properly containerized for pickup.
