DEKALB – Construction crews have started excavation and sitework for new buildings at Hopkins Park in DeKalb, including the Admissions/First Aid, Concessions, and Mechanical buildings. The DeKalb Park District is working with the Illinois Department of Public Health to secure permits for a zero-depth entry pool, spray ground, four water slides, and renovated locker rooms. Underground work and building construction will continue in the coming weeks. The upgraded outdoor pool facility is expected to open in summer 2026 and will feature lap lanes, new seating and concession areas, improved lifeguard and first aid facilities, and modern infrastructure. While the pool area is under construction, other park amenities remain open, though the north parking lot and seasonal ice rink will be unavailable.
