DAVIS JUNCTION – A family is staying with relatives after a home in Davis Junction was deemed uninhabitable after a fire on Friday night. The Lynn-Scott Rock Fire Protection District was called around 5:50 p.m. to the 1400 block of Rock Island Road, where a resident reported smoke was coming from a clothes dryer. The family and pets escaped safely, but the fire spread on the first floor. The call was escalated to the 2nd box alarm, bringing in a number of area departments. Crews were on scene for about two hours. Damage was mostly contained to the laundry room and kitchen, but smoke was spread throughout the home. Ogle County EMA assisted the family and no injuries were reported.
