BYRON — The Rock River Valley Blood Center will hold a community blood drive at Stillman Bank, 608 W. Blackhawk Drive in Byron, on Tuesday, July 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Officials say summer is a critical time for blood donations as demand remains steady and donor turnout often declines. Maggie Anderson, Donor Recruiter with the Rock River Valley Blood Center, said they appreciate the community support.
“We’re so grateful for all the businesses and organizations in our area that partner with us to throw amazing blood drives. That is a huge portion of the blood that we collect, and it’s so important that we have those blood drives to make sure that people in the hospitals get the blood that they need,” Anderson said.
The blood center supplies 14 hospitals across northern Illinois and is encouraging eligible donors to participate. Donors are asked to bring a photo ID.
