ROCHELLE — The Big Boy steam locomotive is expected to arrive in Rochelle at about 3 p.m. today and make a brief stop at the Rochelle Railroad Park, where food vendors and family activities are planned for visitors. City officials said Ralfie’s BBQ, Re-emarkably Good and Kona Ice will be at the park, and free face painting for children will be offered throughout the day. The Railroad Park parking lot will be closed to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic, with hundreds or possibly thousands of visitors expected. Parking will be available in the grassy lot south of the park and on nearby streets where permitted. Several streets, including portions of 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th and 14th streets between Lincoln Avenue and 1st Avenue, will be restricted to resident parking only. In addition, 9th Street will close to vehicle traffic at 10 a.m. to allow pedestrian access to the park. The Union Pacific No 4014 is on a nationwide tour marking America’s 250th anniversary.
