Rochelle Approves Well 8 Project Change Order

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle City Council approved a $41,234 change order for the city’s Well 8 iron filter plant project after a motor failure was discovered during construction. City officials said the existing pump motor failed while crews were restarting the system near the end of the project. The work includes the purchase of a new 240 horsepower motor, pump modifications and labor to remove and reinstall equipment. The cost will be covered through city cash reserves because the project contingency funding through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency loan program has already been used.
